Equipment

Digital scales are a key item. Two sets of digital scales are ideal.  One set of scales should be located on the repair station table and one at the qualification table.  The scales at the qualification table is considered to be the official scales for this event, even if a clubber had his car weighed at the post office or other similar scales.

A set of similar height tables is great to set the track on.  This gets the race up where it can be seen, and gets the track off the floor so it is not walked over.

Qualification Table

  • Table
  • Digital scales
  • Go-No-Go box (a box with inside dimensions of 7” long, 3”  tall, and 2.75” wide)
  • Qualification Forms (printed from the Grand Prix Organizer™ database).

Repair Station

  • Table with scrap 3/4” plywood (to protect the top)
  • Drills with ½” bits
  • Glue
  • Lubricant
  • Extra wheels and axles,
  • Digital scales

Pit Area

  • Parking Grids (area numbered for each car with edges to keep cars from rolling off)
  • Dot stickers (to place car numbers on parking grids)

Track

  • Electronic eye
  • Race-end box (padded box to stop cars safely)
  • Winners Flags (Red, blue, green, yellow)
  • Seat back covers (four colors for designated seating of current racers, if desired)

 Rope and Standards

  • 100 ‘ of Ό” yellow nylon rope is good.
12 or so rope standards to hold rope around track and pit area.  These standards can be made as follows: cut a 12”x12” piece of ½” plywood, cut 5.5” from a cedar 2x6 and drill a 1.25 “ hole in the middle.  Center these pieces and nail together.  Cut a dowel with 1.25” diameter to 32” long.  Screw an eyelet big enough to put rope through into one end of the dowel.  Using the other piece as a base push the dowel into the 1.25” hole, and you have a very nice rope standard.
