Grand Prix OrganizerTM
Owner's Notes

This page provides notes on operational characteristics and updates for the Grand Prix Organizer owners and users.

Driver's License photos

The following comments pertain to the Add Drivers License screen found by clicking the Add DL Pictures button at the bottom right corner of the Driver's Entry screen.
Copy the picture (Ctrl-C the image from a word processor) then paste (Ctrl-V) the driver’s photo in the appropriate location for each driver. You must copy and past the image itself, not the file. To do this insert the picture into a word processor (such as MS Word) then copy the image itself. (Do not use the Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer for this operation.) Once having copied the image, paste it into the appropriate location in Add DL Pictures form. This photo will appear on the driver’s license.
An alternative method: You can crop and insert the image into The Grand Prix Organizer in one operation. Open the image in MS Paint (Start/All Programs/Accessories/Paint) then use the "Select tool" to select the part of the image you want. Copy then paste into the appropriate location in the Grand Prix Organizer (Drivers and Cars / Add DL Picture).

Using MS Paint, you can crop the image to minimize the background to just the racer's head. This makes a larger image of the racer as well as reducing the file size of the image.
If your images are large (>50K bytes) I advise printing the licenses 10 at a time (1 page). Submitting a document to a printer that contains many large images can severely slow down your computer during the printing process and even crash your printer. This is particularly true if you have a small amount of RAM. Larger amounts of RAM will help considerably.

40-car races

The Grand Prix Organizer provides race-heat configuration for a race category with up to 40 racers at a time. However the 40-car race chart must be initiated manually.
From the "Generate Tournament Charts" item on the Race Headquarters Screen, select "Excel Race Charts."
You will see your categories and number of racers in each category. Click the button to the left of the category name.
Excel will start but with only a 16-racer race.
Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, go to: C:\Program Files\Grand Prix and open the MS Excel file 40 car Projection.xls .
Upon opening an Excel macro will retrieve up to 40 racers from The Grand Prix Organizer and configure them into 4-car race heats.
Obtain the 32-car Excel spreadsheet here

Copy these files to your C:\Program Files\Grand Prix folder.

Shortcuts - Desk-top and Program Files

If your shortcut icons do not work, use the following steps:
  1. Right-click on the shortcut to display a pop-up menu
  2. Click on the "Properties" selection on the menu
  3. In the "Target" text box paste this string:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\ART\Office\MSACCESS.EXE" "C:\Program Files\Grand Prix\Grand Prix.gpo" /runtime
The above string has a space as shown: ....EXE" "C:\Program ... Be sure to include the quotes as indicated.
  1. After copying and pasting the above string into the Target, click OK. Your GPO should start.
Reloading the Grand Prix Organizer from the CD will overwrite and destroy all data you have input to that point.
